About the Edinburgh International Accreditation Council
Rooted in Edinburgh’s historic tradition of Enlightenment scholarship, upholding international rigor, and validating borderless higher education across 120+ nations.
A Legacy of Quality, A Future of Borderless Education
Established in Edinburgh, Scotland, the Edinburgh International Accreditation Council (EIAC) serves as an independent accrediting body and higher education quality assurance authority. Edinburgh has long stood as an Enlightenment capital of intellectual discovery, academic freedom, and institutional integrity.
In the 21st century, higher education has expanded beyond physical borders. High-caliber digital universities, tuition-free global academies, and transnational degree consortiums require objective, fraud-resistant quality assurance that traditional domestic-only frameworks often fail to accommodate.
EIAC bridges this global gap by applying uncompromising standards across doctoral faculty qualifications, curriculum depth, proctored examinations, institutional financial health, and verifiable graduate outcomes.
The Edinburgh Seal of Quality
Veritas · Integritas · Sapientia
The official seal affixed to accredited institution charters, program accreditation decrees, and cryptographic student degree certificates verified under the Scottish Quality Registry.
The 5 Pillars of Council Accreditation
Every candidate university and degree program undergoes comprehensive audit against five core structural pillars before an official decree is granted.
1. Curriculum & Academic Rigor
Program curricula must align with the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (FHEQ Levels 4–8) and the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS). Coursework demands independent research, synthesis, and peer review.
2. Doctoral Faculty Supervision
At least 75% of postgraduate teaching faculty must possess terminal doctorates (PhD, DBA, DPhil) from recognized institutions, with verifiable publication records in indexed academic journals.
3. Cryptographic Credential Registry
Every conferred degree must be registered in the immutable EIAC central ledger with SHA-256 digital signature hashes and QR codes for instant embassy, employer, and university verification.
4. Examination Integrity & Proctoring
Robust identity verification, anti-plagiarism checks, live or AI-proctored invigilation, and external examiner validation ensure the authenticity of every student’s academic performance.
5. Institutional Governance & Solvency
Member institutions must demonstrate robust fiduciary stability, transparent student tuition policies, clear dispute resolution procedures, and comprehensive student support infrastructure across all study pathways.
Headquartered in Edinburgh’s Financial & Scholastic Quarter
The Council’s permanent Secretariat operates from George Street in central Edinburgh, overseeing the international peer review committees, consular verification services, and official registry updates.
